(A)
John worked hard, but he was still very poor. He was very sad all day. One day when he came home from work, he saw his daughter in the living room. She was playing with colourful wrapping paper. John got angry.
“Where is the paper from?” John asked.
“I bought it with my pocket money,” the girl answered.
“You won’t get money from me any more,” John said and went to his room.
Some days later, it was Christmas. The girl brought a little box wrapped in colourful paper to her father and said, “Dad, this is for you.”
The father was surprised to see the colourful box. He felt sorry for his anger that day. He touched the girl’s head and opened the box. He became angry again when he found nothing inside.
“Why is it empty? Are you playing a trick on me?” the angry father asked.
“No, Dad. It’s not empty. I put many kisses in the box. All for you, Dad.”
John had nothing to say. He put his arms around the girl. “Sorry, dear. Please forgive me.”
From then on, John always kept the box beside his bed. When he felt sad, he took a kiss out of the box and remembered the love of his child.
