The sun is slow to come out when Russia's spring starts in March. There is still snow and the weather is cold. It doesn't get warm until May 1st. It is known as Labour Day around the world, but May 1st is also called Spring Day in Russia. But May offers clearer skies and streets with fewer people, making it one of the best times to visit Russia.
Summer lasts from June to August and attracts the most tourists for the warm weather. The beautiful gardens come to life and there are lots of cultural festivals in the season. The forests turn into beautiful colours, making the whole country look amazing. The warm weather is also good for outdoor activities. Also, if you want to enjoy famous ballet (芭蕾) shows, it's a good time.
Winter in Russia is not as cold as you might think. Outside of Siberia or the Arctic Circle, temperatures usually stay around —7℃ in January, the coldest month. The beautiful snow is perfect for all kinds of winter sports. Russian New Year celebrations last for two weeks, filled with music, dancing, and feasts (盛宴), making early January a lively time to visit.
