Tom is a 12-year-old boy with a special hobby. While many kids of his age play football or basketball, Tom spends his free time painting. He always carries a sketchbook (素描本) and coloured pencils in his schoolbag. His love for art began when he was six. One rainy day, he drew a picture of his dog with crayons (蜡笔). His parents noticed his talent and gave him a big surprise with paints and brushes on his 8th birthday.
At school, Tom joined the Art Club. His teacher, Ms Green, taught him to mix colours and paint on canvas (画布). “Painting lets me show feelings without words,” Tom said. Though he found it hard at first, he kept practising.
Tom dreams of becoming a famous artist. He practises every weekend and even teaches younger kids in his neighbourhood (街区). “Art isn’t just about winning,” he says. “It’s about sharing joy. I hope my work
inspires others to try painting too.” For Tom, every blank canvas is a new adventure.
