How the violin changed my life
By Eric Cruise, 27
I was born in a family of doctors, so my parents were really surprised when I told them I wanted to be a violinist. At first, they thought it was just a temporary(暂时的) thing, since children often dream about doing unusual jobs, but they quickly changed their mind when they grew up. 1 My family gave me a lot of support, which I am thankful to.
2 It means practising for hours every day, pain in your fingertips and neck, and a lot of setbacks(挫折). Most of the time, especially at the beginning, it sounds bad. 3
Anyway, I kept taking classes and practising until I joined in an activity, and that's when the fun started. 4 When you work together to give a show in front of many people, the joy you give to others with your music will make the whole effort worthwhile.
I have never regretted being a musician. 5 She often jokes that I would be a terrible doctor, but in the end my job is not so different from hers. She treats people's bodies, but I treat their souls(心灵).
