What is the “river of grass”?
Rivers are bodies of water. They are usually long and not too wide. The banks of rivers may be tall or low. Many rivers start high in the mountains. They get bigger as they flow from the mountains. Then they empty into a lake or an ocean.
The Everglades(大沼泽地) is different. It does not look like other rivers. The Everglades is very wide. No part of it is very deep. In some places, it is very shallow(浅的). Tall grasses grow through the water. This is the sawgrass marsh. You can see more grass than water. But the water is there. That is why the Everglades is called the “river of grass”.
