[2025 南通期中]Silent Honour(《沉默的荣耀》)，a 2025 historical drama based on real events，tells the stories of hidden heroes in Taiwan who fought for China’s liberation(解放). Their touching stories and strong hearts have drawn the 1. a of the whole nation and made the drama a hot topic online. The famous line “If I never return, then I never return”, spoken by Wu Shi before leaving the mainland, shows the heroes’ fearless 2. s and deep love for the motherland.
These heroes were not born fearless. Their 3. c came not from lacking fear, but from choosing to overcome it. They were sons, daughters, fathers, and mothers, with the same hopes and fears for their families as us. Yet they put national interests(利益) first. When the nation called, they stepped forward without looking back. Their stories showed that today’s 4. p life is built on their sacrifices.
Taiwan has always been 5. p of China. On October 25, 1945, the Chinese government accepted Japan’s surrender(投降), which 6. m the return of Taiwan to the motherland. This day is now celebrated as Taiwan Retrocession Day(台湾光复节). People’s Daily wrote on Taiwan’s 80th return anniversary that all Chinese, including those in Taiwan, take great 7. p in being upright(堂堂正正的) Chinese.

The military parade(阅兵式） to mark the 80th anniversary of the 1. v in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was 2. s held on September 3, 2025 at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing.
The whole parade 3. l 70 minutes, with the theme “Remembering the History, Supporting 4. P and Development”. A total of 45 formations took part in it, 5. i soldiers marching on foot, flag guards and aircraft flying in formation.
Most of the weapons(武器） which showed China's rapid progress in defense technology were reviewed for the first time. A highlight(亮点） of the big event was the performance by the military band(乐队). The band was arranged in 14 rows, as the 6. s of the 14 years of the war, and the band had 80 trumpet(小号乐器）7. p, representing the 80th anniversary. They played famous songs from the wartime period, helping everyone 8. r history. Above all, while watching the military parade, all Chinese were really 9. p of our country.
