Confucius and The Analects
The Analects is a famous book in Chinese history. It was written by Confucius' students and records the words and thoughts of Confucius. This book teaches us how to be good people, how to study, and how to behave towards others. Even today, many of its ideas are still useful in our daily lives. Here are some key lessons from this great book.
Learn with a joyful attitude. Confucius believed that having the right attitude is the most important part of learning. He said that people who simply know something are not as good as those who like it, and people who like it are not as good as those who enjoy it. When we find joy in studying, we don't feel tired.
Review old knowledge to discover new ideas. Good students often look back at what they have learnt. By reviewing old lessons, we can understand them better and even find new meanings. This is a sign of a true master.
Think while you study. Studying and thinking must go together. If we only study without thinking, we will be confused. If we only think without studying, we will be in danger of failing. We must do both to succeed.
Be honest about what you know. A wise person is honest. If you know something, say you know it. If you don't know, admit that you don't. This is the real way to gain knowledge.
Never give up your dream. Even if a country loses its army and leader, an ordinary person should never lose his dream or goal. We must be strong and protect our hopes and ambitions.
