My mum and I dreamed of visiting Jiuzhaigou Valley for years, and this autumn we finally made the trip. It was everything we hoped for. Towering mountains, blue-green lakes and colourful autumn trees were all around us. My favourite moment came when Mum and I stood at the bottom of a huge waterfall. White water seemed to rush towards us. We held hands and felt the great power of nature. It's a memory we'll share and recall forever.

As a biologist, I have long been interested in Jiuzhaigou Valley. Every summer, I visit the valley to study the rich plant life there. It's a biologist's dream! This area is home to more than 2,000 different kinds of plants—and some of them are quite rare. Thanks to a special mix of its location, climate and altitude, the valley provides a perfect environment for herbs and wildflowers. Some of the rare plants are even used in medicine. I've visited the valley more than ten times, and I always discover something new each time. I can't wait to see what I'll find this year.

I knew Jiuzhaigou Valley would be magical in winter—and it is! A blanket of soft, fresh snow covers everything: the mountains, the trees and the ground. The lakes are frozen, yet they still shine with a beautiful blue colour. Many of the waterfalls have turned into ice too. They look like wonderful ice sculptures! The whole world feels quiet and peaceful in this white landscape. It's like walking through a frozen wonderland.
