Teens surveyed for World Book Day
World Book Day is coming up on 23 April. In 1995, UNESCO set this day as a global celebration of books. Since then, readers around the world have celebrated this event with book fairs, library visits, reading activities and more.
To celebrate this year's World Book Day, our newspaper surveyed 100 teenagers about their favourite type of book. According to the survey, fantasy and science fiction books are the most popular among the teenagers. Twenty-eight teenagers chose fantasy as their favourite, while 25 chose science fiction. Biographies also seem to be popular with today's teenagers, with 20 considering them as their top choice.
We also asked teenagers about their hopes for the future of reading and received some interesting results. Many teenagers hope to see technology improve the reading experience. For example, over half of the teenagers said they most wanted to see more VR reading spaces in the future. In these VR spaces, readers could step into stories and live the lives of their favourite characters. The next most-wanted change is for books to come with quick translation features. This will make it easier for teenagers to read books from all over the world. Only time will tell which of these changes will become most common. But now, it is great to see young peop
