The students are doing a survey in class. The teacher asks Matthew to work with Lorna. Their question is: How do you come to school?
Matthew comes to school by car. Lorna comes on foot. Matthew and Lorna take the question paper around the class. Everyone has to tick a box. Matthew and Lorna make a bar chart. They've done a good job, but Lorna is upset. "So many children come to school by car!" Nine children come by car. Only six children come on foot. "Most cars use petrol. It makes the air dirty!" says Lorna.
"Can we take the question paper to other classes?" asks Lorna. "Yes, of course," says her teacher.
Matthew and Lorna find out that lots of children come to school by car. They show their work to the class. Everyone talks about the chart. They have different ideas. But they all think that more children should walk to school. "I'm going to walk!" "Me too!" Lorna has an idea. Matthew tells the teacher. The teacher tells the head teacher. Two weeks later, the children try a new way to get to school. They go "by bus". It's a Walking Bus.
