不要让你的大脑“生锈”
How did you spend your last holiday? Were you looking at your cellphone screens and surfing
the Internet from morning till night? Well, you're not alone. It seems that many people are now online nearly all the time. According to a new survey, on average, Chinese people spend five and a half hours on the Internet every day.
Let's be honest. What do you usually use the Internet for? For many people (not just Chinese people), it's mainly used to watch short videos and to check out new memes(表情包). Instead of helping you relax, these low - value videos and memes make it difficult for you to think. The Oxford Word of the Year for 2024, “brain rot(脑腐)”, best describes this global problem.
Why does the problem take place? Watching these types of short videos and memes without a stop is just like eating your favourite snack. Once you start, it's hard to stop. It's also an easy way to kill time. It takes you a couple of hours to enjoy yourselves in different apps. You can't realize it until it is too late. It seems that you can have fun easily.
But this “easy fun” has its bad effects on people. The more time you spend on the Internet, the less real - life joy you will have. While you are having a “good” time surfing the Internet, you are missing the beauty and happiness of the real world. Over time, you feel like your lives are getting more and more boring.
It's time to bring back “real fun”. Your friends or family and you should try to breathe in the fresh air and relax in the warm sunlight. I'm sure that you can enjoy the beauty of nature successfully. Fill your day with pleasant birdsong. Just don't let your screens take up your free time and leave your brain “rotting”!
