阅读短文,根据短文内容用英语回答问题。每题答案不超过5个单词。
Mr Tan lived in a busy city. He had a small and old bookstore on a quiet street corner.
Mr Tan loved his bookstore and books very much. Once there were a lot of people who loved reading books coming to his bookstore. Some people read books quietly. Others just bought the books they needed and went away. However, as time went by, it seemed that his bookstore was quite empty because e-books grew popular. Mr Tan was very worried but there was nothing he could do.
One day, a young writer, Henry, walked in. He was sad, as his writings were refused again. Mr Tan didn't know how to comfort(安慰) him. So he looked for a lot of self-help books in his bookstore and put them beside Henry. Henry read them day and night. Inspired, he began to write again. What was more, in his free time, he started hosting free writing workshops in the bookstore. He taught people how to write articles. There were more and more people gathering(聚集) in the bookstore. The bookstore became a creative centre. The bookstore became lively again.
Years later, Henry became a famous writer, but he never forgot Mr Tan and his small bookstore. He said, "I'm very thankful to Mr Tan. I can be successful because of his act of kindness." And Mr Tan said with a smile, "Without Henry, my bookstore will be closed down."
A small act of kindness, like Mr Tan offering books to Henry, can make a big difference
in someone's life. So, we should always be ready to help others. Maybe helping others is helping ourselves.
